Boo!
There is something about ghosts that I always loved... Perhaps it's the undefined shape, smoothness of their line (or both)... who knows?

Colouring Practice
I've been practicing with colouring this sketch made by the talented Patricio Marcello Balanovsky.
Had a lot of fun in the process... hope to make more of these in the future.

Octapus Garden
I've taken some time to draw a new and full painting. Something more complex and with a story around it.
Here is the final stage.
I'm about to create the different walk-through of the different stages for those of you who might be interested in the process.
Hope you like it!

AM Get Together
Yesterday night we finished working and went to an AM group meeting.
It was a lot of fun to see the old faces and some new ones and I would like to thank Gabi for organizing the meeting.
We also had a great privilege to meet Tim Crawfurd, a former animator at Pixar (1997-2009) and currently a mentor at AM who was kind enough to let us see some of his work which was very inspiring!

Eric Goldberg's Lecture In Israel At The Animation Festival

We are having in Israel an animation festival once a year. Last night I've been to the lecture of this years special guest - Eric Goldberg.
Eric is on of best classic animators I've ever seen, and he's been in the field for many many years (he had the chance of working with Art Babbit, and even Grahm Netwick!) .
He also responsible for the best part (in my opinion) in Fantasia 2000, when he animated and directed the amazing animation piece with the Flamingos and the Yo-Yo, and also Rhapsody's In Blue! The man is such an incredible super talent, it's hard even to start to describe how many amazing things he had done during his years working in Disney.
Of course his most famous character he had ever animated was the Ginni from Aladdin! And he told us so many amazing stories about how he always loved to animate, even as a little boy, making flip books (I could relate to that :) and up until now days.
He's so extremely nice and positive, it's amazing just to be around him.
I had the pleasure of introducing my self to him before and after his lecture, and found out he knows my class 5 mentor - Eric M. Bour and also. After the lecture was over (it was pass midnight but still he had time to answer people questions - what an amazing guy!) I've asked him about the many different styles he use to work in. He's unique curves is what I've come to love so much and you can see it in the way the Ginni is drawn, and the same goes to Hercules and Fantasia 2000. He told me he was always after trying other people styles, to keep on learning and evolving.
It was a great privilege to talk to him and it was so much fun I wish I could do it again :)

My wife is a graduate! Congratulations!
I can't tell you how much I'm proud of my wife - Moriah, which had finally (after a lot of hard work) received her M.Sc degree (and also received the dean's prize for excellency!).
It was a very exciting ceremony and now when all is behind her.... she can start focusing on her new career as a biology teacher (and hopefully, me too, once I'll graduate my studies at AnimationMentor - but I don't really want to be a biology teacher... no... I think I'll stick with my dream of becoming a character animator:).

This is the only week I had between class 5 and 6, which means that in two more days, I'll be starting my last semester! Class 6 (I can't believe I got there so fast!) and then I'll start looking for a job in the industry in Israel (cross your fingers for me, will you?)

An Animation Party in Tel Aviv
This last Thursday we (myself, my wife - Moriah, Shimi Volkovich and Yair Mor) were invited to come to a party which had been organized by Alex Orrell - the president and CO-founder of one of the top animation studios in Israel - CREW972.
Alex is a former animator at Pixar's and had worked on films such as The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Boundin' and Monsters INC!!!
I've had the privilege to make my acquaintance and speak with him about my studies at Animation Mentor, my former mentor (class 2) - Gini Santos, and the future of my animation career.
He's such a great guy, fun to talk to and even introduced me to a few other people from the industry in Israel.
I'm so glad I could have been there that night :)
Attached is a link to CREW972 website and some pictures of that great evening.

An AM get together session for a change :)

Today a few friends of mine which also study at AM (Shimi and Yair - same class as I) and myself, had decided to have a little get together in a pub.
It was really great! we've talked and laughed - had a lot of fun.
Here are the framing pictures :)
Oh! before I forget! here's a link to the short movie LIFTED by Pixar.
I'm proud to say my mentor - Gini Santos is the animation supervisor.
Enjoy!
